Statutory sick pay is not enough – Usdaw calls on the Government to deliver a New Deal for Workers 06 April 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw has expressed disappointment that after today’s increase, Statutory Sick Pay, at just £96.35 per week, is still far too low. SSP does not provide the necessary financial support for millions of low-paid workers who have to take time off work because they are ill, self-isolating or shielding. Minimum wage increase not enough says Usdaw, the very least key workers deserve is £10 per hour 01 April 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw is disappointed that low paid workers have not received the full minimum wage increase they were promised. Today’s increase in the so-called National Living Wage (NLW) of 19p to £8.91 an hour doesn’t meet Usdaw’s call for £10 per hour, the real living wage rate of £9.50 or even the Government’s previously projected rate of £9.21. Customers urged by Usdaw to follow the rules and respect shopworkers as Scotland’s shops start to gradually reopen 30 March 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw is calling on customers to follow the rules and respect shopworkers, as stores in Scotland start to gradually reopen with ‘click and collect’ services next Monday 5 April. TUC Young Workers' Conference 2021: Usdaw highlights how the pandemic has impacted young workers’ rights and safety 26 March 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw has a delegation of members attending this year’s online TUC Young Workers’ Conference, which takes place this weekend (27-28 March). The union is highlighting the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on young workers; in particular that they are more likely to be furloughed, lose their job, be in low-paid insecure work and experience abuse. Boohoo steps towards more ethical trading, but they still need to engage with Usdaw 25 March 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw represents workers at Boohoo’s warehouse and call centre in Burnley and head office in Manchester, but the company continues to refuse to recognise the union, leaving staff without a real voice at work. Usdaw Ne'er Day trading petition secures a long overdue Scottish Government consultation after a 14 year delay 25 March 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw has secured a commitment from the Scottish Government to consult on large stores closing on New Year’s Day. Usdaw has written to the company demanding that the threat to impose these cuts is taken off the table. Northern Irish trade unionists back Usdaw's call for a proper festive break 23 March 2021 Shopworkers trade union Usdaw has today won support for a proper break for retail staff over the festive period from delegates participating in the online Biennial Delegate Conference (BDC) of the Northern Ireland Committee (NIC) of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU).
