Usdaw members at the Weetabix AP4 plant in Kettering, which produces cereal bars, have rejected a company offer intended to resolve the dispute and will start a 24-hour stoppage from 7pm on Monday 16 August.

Retail trade union Usdaw has expressed deep concern about the latest British Retail Consortium (BRC) and Local Data Company (LDC) shop vacancy monitor. The figures reveal that the vacancy rate across the country increased to 14.5% in the last quarter from 14.1%, with one-in-five shopping centre units now sitting empty.

Members of Usdaw at BCM Fareva begin two further stoppages today, which will continue into Monday. The Nottingham based manufacturer of consumer pharma and beauty products for leading brands including Boots and The Body Shop has proposed slashing staff terms and conditions, while threatening to ‘fire and rehire’ staff if agreement cannot be reached.
