BCM Fareva, Nottingham: Usdaw members to take further industrial action on Sunday and Monday in ‘fire and rehire’ dispute

Date: 13 August 2021 Members of Usdaw at BCM Fareva will begin a further stoppage on Sunday 15 August, which will continue into Monday. The strike follows three previous stoppages at the end of July.
The Nottingham based manufacturer of consumer pharma and beauty products for leading brands including Boots and The Body Shop continues to press ahead with threats of ‘fire and rehire’ if employees do not accept significant cuts to their terms and conditions.

Daniel Adams - Usdaw National Officer says: “Our members have been left with no choice but to take further industrial action given the Company’s continuing refusal to engage with the trade union and proceed with threats to impose cuts to terms and conditions through ‘fire and rehire’.

“Members have been given an arbitrary deadline to accept the changes next week or potentially face dismissal. No business should behave like this in 2021.

“Usdaw continues to call on the business to pause the process and enter into meaningful talks with the union. Management should put fairness first, stop the threats and get round the negotiating table.”
