Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett has welcomed a Scottish Parliament debate on Usdaw's Respect for Shopworkers Week. The debate will be led by Labour’s Daniel Johnson MSP and is due to take place at 5pm today.

Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett has questioned whether police cuts are having an effect on crime as the Office for National Statistics today reports an 11% increase in shoplifting, continuing the trend of a 26% increase since 2012.

World Mental Health Day - Usdaw praises the role of workplace trade union reps

Around 12 million people a year see their GP about a mental health problem, but many workers with anxiety or depression face negative attitudes and even disciplinary action because of their condition. Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett is marking this year’s World Mental Health Day, on 10 October, by praising the role of trade union workplace reps in supporting members experiencing mental health problems.
