Usdaw calls for strike action at Sainsbury's Distribution Centre

Following yesterday’s overwhelming ballot result, Usdaw has now informed Sainsbury’s of our intention to take strike action on Thursday, 27 June 2019. The strike action, which will start at 6am and last for 24 hours, will affect warehouse workers at Sainsbury’s Waltham Point Distribution Centre.

Living Wage Foundation's new 'Living Hours' campaign welcomed by Usdaw

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has welcomed the Living Wage Foundation’s (LWF) new ‘Living Hours’ campaign, which focuses on the issues of job insecurity and underemployment. The LWF describe the campaign as a practical solution that employers can adopt to help provide the security and stability that low paid workers need to make ends meet.

Usdaw members working at Sainsbury’s Waltham Point have voted by 73%, on a turnout of 67%, to take industrial in response to the Company’s proposed changes to the attendance policy.

'Time for Better Pay' petition closes with over 50,000 signatures - Usdaw is now seeking a debate in Parliament

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw launched the ‘Time for Better Pay’ petition to express deep concerns about the pay and rights of a growing number of workers who find themselves in increasingly insecure employment. The petition has now closed with the support of over 50,000 signatures and Usdaw is seeking a debate in Parliament about the issues of low pay and insecure work.

Government must offer more than warm words about Arcadia as the high street crisis deepens - Usdaw calls for a retail industrial strategy

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has called on the Government to step up its efforts to tackle the high street crisis as the fate of another major retailer hangs in the balance, along with the jobs of 18,000 staff. Arcadia has been locked in negotiations with landlords as it seeks agreement on company voluntary arrangements, and a further meeting is due tomorrow.

Usdaw calls for at least £10 minimum wage and an end to rip-off youth rates

Shopworkers trade union Usdaw has today responded to the Low Pay Commission (LPC) consultation on minimum wage rates. The LPC is currently taking evidence ahead of making recommendations to the Government about National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage rates to be introduced on 1 April 2020.

Usdaw very disappointed by further delays to an award for former Palmer & Harvey workers and calls for a better resourced Insolvency Service

Usdaw won justice for members who worked for the retail distribution company Palmer & Harvey, after the Manchester Employment Tribunal granted a protective award because the union was not properly consulted about the redundancies, as required by law.
