Sunday Trading Northern Ireland Survey

Large stores in Northern Ireland are only able to open for 5 hours on Sundays and our members have always said that they appreciate that shorter working day at the weekend.

Last year, Belfast City Council and Derry City & Strabane Council both looked at using their powers to designate areas as ‘holiday resorts’, allowing large shops to open for as long as they like on 18 Sundays a year.

Using evidence provided by our members, Usdaw successfully made a strong case that such proposals would be detrimental to our members’ lives and to their communities.

Despite soundly defeating the proposals just last year, Belfast City Council has reopened their consultation and is trying to justify going ahead with the proposal.

Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey below and helping to make our campaign as effective as possible.
