Chancellor's cost of living crisis response goes nowhere near far enough to help workers struggling to make ends meet says Usdaw 26 May 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw has been left unimpressed by the Government’s weak support for workers facing a cost of living crisis, after they were today dragged kicking and screaming into backing Labour’s windfall tax on excessive oil and gas profits. Queen’s Speech: Yet again the Government fails to bring forward an employment bill – Usdaw calls for a New Deal for Workers 10 May 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw has long campaigned for a New Deal for Workers to tackle workplace injustices and help those struggling to make ends meet in the cost of living crisis. This should be delivered in an employment bill, which the Tories promised in their 2019 manifesto and, as reported by the TUC, this promise has been repeated at least 20 times since. It is unacceptable that such a bill is not in the programme of legislation for the coming parliamentary year, as set out in today’s Queen’s Speech. Minimum wage increase not enough in a cost of living crisis says Usdaw 01 April 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw is disappointed that low-paid workers will not receive a minimum wage increase that will provide a wage they can live on. Today’s increase in the so-called National Living Wage to £9.50 an hour doesn’t meet Usdaw’s call for £10 per hour immediately or the real living wage rate of £9.90.
