'Report it to sort it' says Usdaw on the first anniversary of Scottish protection of workers law

Retail trade union Usdaw is marking tomorrow’s first anniversary of the protection of workers act in Scotland coming into force by urging retail staff to report incidents. The union is holding a campaign event at the Tesco superstore in Leith and participating in a lunchtime roundtable discussion at the Scottish Parliament on 24 August.

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed today’s joint announcement by Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner and shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves outlining their reforms for the minimum wage; which include tasking the Low Pay Commission to take account of the cost of living, along with paying the full rate to all over 18s.

RPI inflation hits 12.3% - Usdaw demands immediate action from Government

Retail trade union Usdaw is again calling on the Government to take immediate action to tackle the cost of living crisis, as inflation continues to grow and wages are devalued by rising prices. The Retail Prices Index rate of inflation increased to 12.3% today and the Consumer Prices Index reached 10.1%. Usdaw argues that RPI is a more accurate measure of inflation, particularly as it includes housing costs.

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed today’s announcement by Labour leader Keir Starmer for an energy price cap freeze at current levels. The fully funded proposal would protect the average household from £1,000 plus energy price increases due in October and next year, while keeping inflation down.
