Co-op sale of petrol stations to Asda brings uncertainty for staff – Usdaw is seeking assurances for members

Date: 31 August 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw is seeking urgent meetings with the Co-op and Asda after today’s confirmation of the sale of 129 Co-op petrol forecourts to Asda in a £600 million deal that will impact around 2,300 staff.
John Gorle – Usdaw National Officer says: “Usdaw members working in Co-op petrol stations will clearly be concerned that their workplace is being sold to another employer and they will go through a TUPE process. We are seeking meetings with the Co-op and Asda at the earliest opportunity to discuss what this means for affected staff. In the meantime we are providing our members with the support, advice and representation they need through this period of uncertainty.”
