Usdaw welcomes Jeremy Corbyn's promises to revive our high streets, tackle low pay and give worker more rights

Date: 24 September 2019 Shopworkers’ trade union leader Paddy Lillis has welcomed Jeremy Corbyn’s wide-ranging speech to Labour’s annual conference in Brighton today. Among the many issues he covered, the Labour leader outlined a comprehensive package of policies to benefit working people who are struggling to make ends meet and promised to “revive the high streets that are the centres of our communities”.
Paddy Lillis – Usdaw General Secretary said: “With a Tory Government in chaos, operating outside the law and with no parliamentary majority; Jeremy Corbyn today set out the case for a Labour Government that will deliver for
working people.

“Too many workers are struggling to makes ends meet because of insecure and low-paid employment. Retail workers fear for their jobs as the ongoing retail crisis grows. Where the Conservatives are deaf to these problems, Labour is listening and only Labour will deliver the much needed change that our members need.

“We must have a general election, as soon as we are safe from a ‘no deal’ Brexit, and our members need a Labour Government to end the Tory years of austerity cuts and attacks on working people.”
