TUC ‘Protect the Right to Strike’ petition: Usdaw urges members to support the campaign to oppose Government anti-union legislation 23 January 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw is asking members to sign a Trades Union Congress (TUC) petition that opposes the Government’s Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill. The Bill has been timetabled to complete all its remaining House of Commons stages in one day on Monday 30 January. Central Co-op announces a distribution reorganisation in Leicester – Usdaw to enter into consultation talks 20 January 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw has been informed by the food retailer Central Co-op of their proposal to close their three distribution centres and garage in Leicester and transfer distribution operations to the Co-operative Group. The company’s proposal puts nearly 400 jobs at risk. Usdaw secures agreement with Tesco Bank on ‘cost of living’ pay increase 19 January 2023 Usdaw has welcomed Tesco Bank agreement to a £1,250 pay increase (on a full-time equivalent basis) for over 3,400 staff, to help with the increased cost of living. Over 90% of the bank’s workforce, those who are likely to be feeling the greatest impact from current cost of living challenges, are eligible for the increase which was effective from 8 January 2023. Double-digit inflation continues to devalue wages – Usdaw calls for Government action and a new deal for workers 18 January 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw continues to call for a new deal for workers to help struggling families with the cost of living crisis, because wages are still being devalued by rising prices. Today the Retail Prices Index (RPI) rate of inflation dipped slightly to 13.4% and the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rate to 10.5%.
