Bullying & Harassment

Incidents of bullying and harassment have increased over the last few years. It can take various forms and may, but not always, have a sexual or racial side to it or may be on grounds of disability, age, religion or belief.

While there is no legal definition it usually involves persistent and unwelcome treatment that belittles, excludes or undervalues an individual.

The effect of bullying and harassment can cause psychological and/or physical health issues such as anxiety, depression, difficulty sleeping and other problems.

Usdaw has negotiated policies with employers to eradicate bullying and harassment that are usually contained in an employee’s contract of employment.

Usdaw reps are also trained to help members who feel they are being bullied at work.
