New Year's Day Working in Scotland

Usdaw is campaigning for all large shops in Scotland to close on New Year’s Day

Shopworkers deserve a decent rest on New Year's Day

We believe that our members should be able to enjoy New Year’s Day with their friends and families.

We understand the importance of being able to recover following the busy run up to the festive period.

From what members have told us, only 3% of Scottish retail workers are happy to work on New Year’s Day.

Sign the petition

We have launched a petition reminding Scottish Politicians that a law to close large shops on New Year’s Day exists and needs to be implemented.

There is currently an unused part of the law that could require all large retailers in Scotland to close on this important day.

It is important that we get as many people as possible to sign – please sign it and encourage your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
