Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw and businesses are supporting the change, with the consultation launched today at a Scotmid store in Edinburgh. Usdaw takes their 'Justice for Injured Workers' campaign to Parliament 16 January 2018 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is urging the Government not to restrict access to justice for victims of workplace accidents or diseases. The union today gave evidence to the House of Commons Justice Select Committee in opposition to Government reforms to personal injury cases. Usdaw calls for respect for shopworkers in the run-up to Christmas and throughout the festive period 19 December 2017 Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett has urged shoppers to keep calm and show respect for retail staff when Christmas shopping and throughout the festive period, particularly in the post-Christmas sales. Usdaw suspends industrial action at Scotbeef as talks move to ACAS 19 December 2017 Usdaw has suspended the two planned 24-hour stoppages at Scotbeef sites in East Kilbride and Queenslie in Glasgow after an agreement has been reached to move talks to the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS). The first 24-hour stoppage was due to start at 10pm tonight. TUC condemns plans to ditch working time protection 19 December 2017 The TUC has spoken out against proposals from Ministers to scrap the Working Time Directive in post-Brexit Britain. Repealing the Working Time Regulations would remove rights to paid holidays, daily and weekly rest breaks, restrictions on maximum weekly hours and health protection for night workers. At least 7 million workers would lose out according to the TUC. Usdaw announces the first 24-hour stoppage at Scotbeef following an 80% vote in favour of industrial action 06 December 2017 Usdaw members working at Scotbeef will hold their first 24-hour stoppage on Tuesday 19 December, after rejecting the most recent offer of a 1.7% pay rise linked to changes in break entitlements. The industrial action will affect Scotbeef workplaces in East Kilbride and Queenslie in Glasgow. Palmer & Harvey update - Usdaw seeking a protective award 01 December 2017 Palmer & Harvey went into administration on 28 November, with administrators immediately announcing 2,500 redundancies. Usdaw urges Scotbeef to improve their pay offer after an overwhelming vote for industrial action 01 December 2017 Usdaw members working at Scotbeef have voted by 81.2% to take industrial action after the company failed to make an acceptable pay offer. The most recent offer of a 1.7% pay rise linked to a change in break entitlements was rejected by a significant majority of the membership. Usdaw statement on Palmer & Harvey entering administration 28 November 2017 Usdaw has responded to the devastating news that Palmer & Harvey has entered administration.
