The union cautions non-food retailers not to open until they can guarantee staff and customer safety and urges them to adopt the joint advice agreed with the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Usdaw is calling on businesses to work with trade unions to carry out risk assessments in workplaces before re-opening for business. Lincolnshire Co-op urged by Usdaw to end their ‘mean-spirited’ response to furloughed, self-isolating and vulnerable staff 07 May 2020 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is urging Lincolnshire Co-operative to end the removal of staff discount from their employees who are furloughed and fully pay vulnerable staff off work and those who are self-isolating, so they don’t have to survive on Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) of just £95.85 per week.
