M&S bosses should give staff a voice by opening talks with Usdaw about the future of the business

Usdaw has called on Marks and Spencer to open talks with the shopworkers trade union about proposed changes to terms and conditions of employment and possible store closures. Usdaw is the trade union for M&S staff, but the company refuses to give recognition.

Convenience store retailer ‘My Local’ are today briefing staff that the business has filed a Notice of Intention to Appoint Administrators and it is likely that the company will go into administration in the next couple of weeks.

Shopworkers trade union and retailers warn families will face higher prices if we leave the EU

Shopworkers trade union leader John Hannett has today released research by Usdaw which finds that, if we were to leave the EU, the hit to sterling and the imposition of tariffs would increase prices for families by £580 a year.

An exhibition exploring Usdaw’s history with artefacts from the archives, ‘Usdaw: 125 Years Strong’ will be open to the public, free of charge, from 21 June to 31 July 2016 at the People’s History Museum.
