Weetabix staff vote overwhelmingly for industrial action over proposed shift changes

Following a breakdown in discussions between Weetabix and Usdaw on the company's proposal to vary shift patterns, the union’s members have voted by 91.7% for industrial action, on a turnout of 69.5%.

Usdaw's survey of Lidl staff shows they need the union to get a fairer deal at work

Usdaw is the trade union for Lidl staff and today we are stepping up the campaign for recognition and give the staff a strong voice at work. We are focussing on Lidl stores across the North West, with an ad van and activists talking to staff and shoppers. Usdaw campaigners are also outside M&S, Aldi and Lidl stores in every region across the country.

93% of shopworkers do not want to be in work on Boxing Day, but more are set to – an Usdaw survey reveals

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has today released results of a survey of nearly 4,000 retail staff in England and Wales, which shows that 93% do not want to be in work on Boxing Day, only 1.5% are happy to work and the remainder say they don’t mind.

FCA and DWP to introduce cap on early exit penalties

Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett is presenting a petition with over 100,000 signatures to Arcadia headquarters on 30 November. The petitioners are calling on Sir Philip Green to deliver on his pledge to ‘sort’ the BHS pension scheme, which means offering significantly more than £250 million to make good the pension promises made to members.

Today is the 70th anniversary of Mencap. Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has paid tribute to the work the charity has done over those years to promote a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.
