Retail trade union has responded to today’s tightening of the Covid-19 restrictions, by the Scottish Government, with a call for respect for shop workers. From this weekend, shops across Scotland are to return to 2 metre physical distancing and reintroduce safety measures put in place earlier in the pandemic.

Usdaw and retailers call for an inquiry into the growing problem of violence and abuse against shop workers

A retail industry coalition, including Usdaw, has today jointly written to Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, Chair of the Home Affairs Committee, calling for an inquiry into violence and abuse against staff. The coalition also includes: British Retail Consortium (BRC), Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) and National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NRFN).
