Usdaw has welcomed that the Government has published the regulations relating to the Civil Liability Act 2018, in which they confirm that the small claims limit for employer’s liability and public liability claims will not be increased and will remain at £1,000.

Covid vaccine phase 2: Usdaw deeply disappointed that retail staff will not be prioritised, despite clear evidence they are at higher risk

Retail trade union Usdaw has consistently campaigned for shopworkers to be prioritised for vaccination, so the union is deeply disappointed that today the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has rejected prioritisation by occupation. Last month the Office for National Statistics (ONS) released evidence on Covid death rates by occupation, which showed that many key workers are at a higher risk.

Sainsbury's pay offer falls short of the £10 per hour aim - Usdaw says staff deserve better

Retail trade union Usdaw is disappointed that the Sainsbury’s and Argos 2021 pay offer does not meet the £10 per hour aim of the union’s New Deal for Workers campaign. The company has offered an increase to £9.50 per hour, which falls short of the deal Usdaw negotiated with Morrisons to pay staff £10 an hour from April.

Boots head office announcement puts 300 jobs at risk - Usdaw calls for talks

High street pharmacy Boots have announced a further restructure of their head office in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Usdaw is calling on the company to enter into talks with the union.

TUC LGBT+ Conference 2021: Usdaw highlights the impact of the pandemic on LGBT+ workers and seeks to address inequality

Retail trade union Usdaw has a delegation of members and officials attending this year’s online Trade Union Congress (TUC) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Plus (LGBT+) Conference, which starts today and closes tomorrow. Usdaw is highlighting the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on LGBT+ workers and seeking to address longstanding inequality issues that have been entrenched still further by the crisis.

Crimestoppers Scotland joint campaign to stop abuse of shopworkers welcomed by Usdaw

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed today’s launch of a joint campaign by Crimestoppers Scotland to raise awareness and stop abuse of shopworkers. The key message is to ‘speak up 100% anonymously about attacks on shopworkers’.

Non-essential stores could reopen on 12 April - Usdaw calls on customers to follow the rules and for retail staff to be prioritised for vaccination

Retail trade union Usdaw is calling on customers to follow the rules and respect shopworkers, as non-essential stores in England could reopen on 12 April, according to today’s roadmap out of lockdown. Usdaw also urges the Government to ensure shopworkers are high on the priority list for vaccination.

Jane Jones is elected the new President of Usdaw

Jane Jones has been elected President of Usdaw in an all-member ballot of Usdaw members. Jane will take over from Amy Murphy following the Union’s Annual Delegate Meeting (ADM) 25-26 April.
