Forecourt staff share experiences of the fuel crisis, Usdaw finds around three-quarters have been abused

Retail trade union Usdaw has been talking to members working in petrol stations about their experiences of this week’s fuel crisis. Based on their feedback, nearly three-quarters of petrol forecourt workers have been on the wrong end of abuse from customers and stress levels have been very high.

Usdaw welcomes the introduction of a protection of public-facing workers bill and urges the Government to back it

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed the launch of the Abuse of Public-Facing Workers (Offences) Bill by Olivia Blake MP (Labour, Sheffield Hallam). The Bill was introduced in the House of Commons today under the 10-minute rule and is scheduled for a second reading on Friday 28 January 2022.

Responding to the Police Crime Sentencing and Courts Bill second reading debate last night, the Government Minister indicated an amendment is still under consideration.
