Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw remains disappointed with the response of Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, to a question from Mark Griffin MSP (Labour, Central Scotland) about closing large retail stores on New Year’s Day 2022, so that retail workers can spend the day with their loved ones.

Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has welcomed Peers passing a new protection of workers amendment to the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill in the House of Lords last night. The Government proposed the amendment after years of opposition to Usdaw’s campaign for a new law to protect shopworkers.

Usdaw ballots open for members on a much improved pay offer in nine Tesco distribution centres

Two ballots of over 5,000 Usdaw members open today after the union negotiated a much improved pay offer from Tesco. Planned industrial action in the week before Christmas has been suspended pending the ballot result due on Wednesday 22 December.

Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed the reintroduction of mandatory social distancing in Scotland’s shops, alongside the existing requirement to wear face coverings. The union is calling on retailers to promote face coverings, hand hygiene and social distancing in their stores and urging shoppers to follow the rules.

Tesco distribution strikes suspended - Usdaw to ballot members on a much improved pay offer

Usdaw has secured a new and much improved pay offer from Tesco and will be balloting members in nine distribution sites starting tomorrow (Wednesday). Planned industrial action in the week before Christmas Eve has been suspended pending the ballot result.
