The chaos in Government and appalling cost of living crisis can only be resolved with a general election says Usdaw

Date: 20 October 2022 Retail trade union Usdaw expresses deep concern about the absolute chaos at the top of Government, after the Prime Minister resigns and announces that her successor will be selected in just one week.
Paddy Lillis – Usdaw General Secretary says: “The arrogance of the Conservatives, who think they can change leaders and policies without going to the country is beyond belief. We need a general election and a Labour Government that will deliver sound economics and a new deal for workers.

“Workers need a government that will make a positive difference to their lives, as they desperately struggle to make ends meet in the midst of a cost of living crisis caused by the Conservatives after twelve years in government.

“Keir Starmer today showed in his address to the Trades Union Congress that he is a Prime Minister in waiting and will deliver for workers with a commitment to grow the economy and raise living standards for everyone, not just a privileged few. Only a Labour Government can put Britain back on track.”
