Paddy Lillis - Usdaw General Secretary says: “Keir Starmer promised an economy based on sound finances and one that works for working people. He also committed to fight for fair pay and good work, understanding that low pay and insecure jobs are a real barrier to economic growth.
 
“That is in stark contrast to the chaotic Tories who have crashed the economy, caused interest rates to rocket and risked pensions funds, all because they tried and failed to cut taxes for the wealthiest. The Conservatives have presided over twelve years of economic stagnation and that has left workers worse off.
 
“Labour promises a new deal for working people within the first 100 days of going into government. A new deal that will end low-paid insecure employment, give workers the dignity of a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work and security of employment.
 
“Keir Starmer offers the hope and change our members need, he rightly said that politics about choices and the choice has never been so stark. The time is up for the Tories, we need a general election and a Labour Government to put Britain back on track.”
