Kellanova investment in their Wrexham factory is welcomed by Usdaw

Food manufacturing trade union Usdaw has welcomed a record £75m investment to make the Kellanova site in Wrexham Europe’s largest cereal factory, with at least 130 new jobs to be created. The breakfast cereal giant has confirmed that brands including Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Crunchy Nut and Special K will continue to be produced in the UK after their Trafford Park site closes in late 2026.

Mick Murray – Usdaw Area Organiser says: “This Kellanova investment in their Wrexham site is very welcome news and clearly demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to UK food manufacturing. The new jobs created will be a boost for the Wrexham economy and modernising production processes reduces the environmental impact of the business.

“Our members at the Trafford Park site in Greater Manchester are obviously devastated by the announced closure of their factory. Today’s news of 130 new jobs provides an additional opportunity for Trafford Park workers to stay employed within the business and transfer. Usdaw reps continue to provide our members with the support, representation and advice they need through the Trafford Park closure process and transition of work to Wrexham.”
