The Labour leader delivered a vision of security and hope so that the next Labour Government will get Britain’s future back.
Paddy Lillis – Usdaw General Secretary says: “After 13 years of Tory incompetence, stagnation and chaos, Keir Starmer has today set out how a Labour Government will deliver security, growth and hope. He clearly demonstrated that as our next Prime Minister, Keir will deliver the change our members so desperately need.
“Throughout his speech he put working people first, understanding their struggles with the cost of living crisis, suppressed pay and insecure work. He understands that we need a new deal for workers on employment rights, so that our country can thrive, and that workers receive the fruits of growth, through dignity in work, excellent public services and a real living wage.
“The community policing guarantee will make a real difference to our members who are suffering violence and abuse in a epidemic of shoplifting. They are desperate to see a police presence in shopping areas, but Tory cuts have left the police struggling to provide patrols or responses to retail crime.
“Today we saw a Prime Minister in waiting, ready to deliver hope and security. Leading a Labour Government that doesn’t make false promises to ‘level up’ or gamble on discredited ‘trickle-down’ economics, but delivers stability for the benefit of working people everywhere.”
