In declaring Usdaw the winner, the judging panel said: “This was a well-executed communications campaign with a clear objective and outcome. It has a cohesive presentation and creative use of mixed media – print, social, video, and online learning. The campaign offered practical resources and demonstrated impact through press releases, handouts, imagery, questionnaires, and feedback forms. The entry clearly demonstrated how each tool contributed to a unified strategy, successfully engaging members and meeting its goals.”
Joanne Thomas – Usdaw general secretary says: “We pride ourselves on our campaigns, so we are delighted that the Usdaw Health and Safety Matters campaign has won a TUC award. I’d like to congratulate and thank everyone involved in making the campaign a huge success. This campaign helps deliver a positive change to our members’ everyday lives in their workplaces.
“Usdaw’s workplace safety representatives and committees improve members’ work conditions. They do a brilliant all-year-round job of reducing injuries, lowering ill-health and making a positive change to the workplace safety culture. Research shows that unionised workplaces and those with health and safety representatives are safer and healthier as a result.”
