The outgoing general secretary took the Government to task over their appalling management of the economy, the deepening cost of living crisis and their needless attacks on trade unions fighting for their members.
Paddy Lillis – Usdaw General Secretary says: “Frances O’Grady has been an outstanding TUC General Secretary for the last decade and in her final keynote address to Congress she demonstrated why the trade union movement must be heard.
“Our members are facing huge challenges as they desperately struggle to make ends meet in the midst of a cost of living crisis. They need a new deal, which could help give workers the protections they deserve.
“A new deal that will end low-paid insecure employment, giving workers the dignity of a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work and security of employment. Keir Starmer offers the hope and change our members need. The time is up for the Tories, we need a general election and a Labour Government to put Britain back on track.”
