Joanne Thomas – Usdaw general secretary says: “The devolved and local election results are deeply disappointing. The impact of losing so many fantastic Labour representatives, including Usdaw members, will be immense. We send our thanks to them for their hard work and service.

“The Labour Party cannot ignore the message delivered by the electorate: change is required if trust and confidence are to be rebuilt. We are clear that the Labour Party belongs to working people, not any individual or faction. For that reason, trade unions have a vital role in shaping the future direction of the Labour Party and we will continue our conversations over the coming days.”
