The proposal requires approval by Chelmsford Star members at two special meetings which will take place in mid-July and early August 2025. If approved, the anticipated date of the transfer is planned for 14 September 2025.
Jayne Allport – Usdaw national officer says: “We look forward to engaging with both societies about the proposed transfer, ahead of a members’ vote. Our priorities through the process are to protect members’ terms and conditions of employment while seeking job security.
“We welcome the early indication that management don’t anticipate any impact on staff, aside from the proposed closure of two department stores already announced by Chelmsford Star. Usdaw and Sata will be providing members with the representation they need through this process.”
