The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers is one of the UK's largest trade unions.
A vacancy exists for a Training Officer based at the Union’s Head Office.
There are no set hours for this position, and the post holder will be expected to be adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the job. While the post holder will be based at Head Office, their particular responsibilities will include carrying out training duties both in Head Office and when required, in other regions throughout the UK. Overnight stays will therefore be required.
The successful applicant will be required to live within 50 miles of Head Office.
A Union car will be provided, and the successful applicant will hold a valid driving licence.

The principal duties are: to be responsible for the education and training needs of staff and Reps in both Head Office and where necessary, in the regions; to develop and deliver training courses; to be responsible for developing the Union’s online learning programme. This post requires a degree of travelling throughout the UK where there is an additional need for course cover.
The successful applicant will possess: a relevant qualification at higher education level (e.g. Degree, Certificate in Adult Education, PGCE, DTTLS) and relevant teaching experience; the ability to develop original and innovative training materials and resources for education sessions lasting from 5 hours to 50 hours' contact time; the ability to develop online training materials suitable for use on a range of online learning platforms; the ability to deliver teaching and learning online with experience of delivering learning using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom, Moodle etc; the ability to communicate clearly in a variety of situations (including at meetings, in the training room and on a one-to-one basis). This would include well-developed verbal and listening skills; the ability to work without supervision, prioritise and organise working time and be capable of making balanced judgements.
