On Monday 18 January, thanks to Jonathan Reynolds MP, Labour’s Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary and Usdaw member, there will be a vote in the House of Commons against the Conservative Government’s plans to cut Universal Credit and working Tax Credit by £20 a week.
These are difficult times and many people have relied on in-work benefits as an important lifeline. If the cut goes ahead in April, it could affect 6 million families costing them £1,040 a year and push 200,000 children into poverty.
Please take a minute to send a message to your MP to ask them to vote in favour of the motion in Parliament.
