Amy Murphy is elected the new President of Usdaw

Amy Murphy has today been elected President of Usdaw in the union’s all-member ballot. Amy will take over from the retiring President Jeff Broome after this year’s Annual Delegate Meeting (ADM) in Blackpool, 22 – 25 April.

Tesco Cardiff call centre closes with the loss of 1,100 jobs

Tesco Cardiff call centre has closed, with the company’s customer engagement operations moving to Dundee. Despite huge efforts to reverse the announcement, which Tesco made as part of their transformation plans, the company has gone ahead with the decision.

Usdaw in talks with Asda over their proposed unfair pension cuts, with nearly 2,000 Northern Irish staff signing a petition

Shopworkers trade union Usdaw is meeting Asda today urging them to listen to the 1,928 staff in Northern Ireland that have signed a petition opposing the company’s cuts to the pension scheme.

Berendsen's Kirkcaldy site to remain open following talks with Usdaw

Laundry company Berendsen UK have reversed the decision to close their Kirkcaldy site following extensive consultation meetings with Usdaw. Berendsen runs New Wave Laundries on Randolph Industrial Estate and has agreed to a reduced operation in Kirkcaldy, to keep the site open, as they will move some operations to its new plant in Inchinnan.
