Sainsbury’s Bank ‘wind down’ is clearly concerning for staff – Usdaw seeks urgent clarification for members

Date: 18 January 2024 Retail trade union Usdaw represents members working in Sainsbury’s bank. They are clearly concerned by today’s media reports that the company is planning to wind down its banking division as part of plans to focus its efforts on the retail business. The union is seeking urgent clarification.
Bally Auluk – Usdaw National Officer says: “Clearly our members are very concerned to hear in the media that there could be significant changes at Sainsbury’s Bank. I am seeking urgent meetings with the business to seek clarification on the options they are considering for the future of the bank as part of their food first strategy. In the meantime, we are providing our members with the support they need at this time of uncertainty.”
