Morrisons buyout: Usdaw looks to meet the new owners to seek further assurances for members

Date: 19 October 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw has responded to shareholders giving the go-ahead to the £7 billion takeover of Morrisons by private equity giant Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R).
Joanne McGuinness – Usdaw National Officer says: “Now that the shareholders have decided and the future ownership of Morrisons seems clearer we are seeking discussions with CD&R, to ensure that our members' interests and the long term future of the business are protected throughout this process. Our main concerns are about job security, while maintaining and improving our members’ terms and conditions of employment. We have heard the assurances already given and welcome the constructive working relationship that Usdaw has experienced so far. In the meantime we are providing our members with the support and advice they need through this.”
