Usdaw signs a new recognition agreement with Manx Co-op

Date: 07 December 2018 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw is today signing a new recognition agreement with the Manx Co-op Society, as the Co-op Group subsidiary joins the Co-op Employers’ Association.
Michala Lafferty – Usdaw Area Organiser says: “Manx Co-op now fully recognises Usdaw at the trade union for their staff. So, for the first time ever, staff on the Isle of Man will be included in the Co-op Employers’ Association bargaining unit, which gives them a vote on their pay, terms and conditions of employment.

“We are now focussed on recruiting Manx Co-op staff to Usdaw, also building and training a network of workplace reps. They will be joining over 46,000 workers in the Co-operative movement who have already joined Usdaw, a strong and growing trade union that offers a first class service to our members, alongside many other benefits.”

Notes for editors:

Usdaw (Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers) is the UK's fifth biggest and the fastest growing trade union with around 430,000 members. Membership has increased by more than 28% over the decade. Most Usdaw members work in the retail sector, but the union also has many members in transport, distribution, food manufacturing, chemicals and other trades.
