Usdaw welcomes a u-turn on Northern Ireland pay by Lidl and calls on them to recognise the union

Lidl announced two weeks ago that around half of their staff will see their hourly rate go up to £8.20 an hour across England, Scotland and Wales, and £9.35 an hour in London. However, this increase did not apply to staff in any stores across Northern Ireland.

Carrier bag charging begins in England today, similar to the charging already in place in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland. Retailers are now required by law to charge a minimum of 5p for every single use carrier bag used by a customer.

Usdaw negotiates a pay rise at Morrisons that takes 90,000 staff well ahead of the Living Wage

Usdaw has negotiated a significant pay rise for all retail staff in Morrisons, taking the basic rate to £8.20 from £6.83. The deal is now subject to a ballot of members, with the union recommending acceptance.
