Usdaw is backing Mark Drakeford to be the next Leader of Welsh Labour and is calling on our members to use their vote to support Mark.
Usdaw is backing Mark because of his undoubtable commitment to working people and improving their lives. Mark joined the Labour Party because he believed that working people, wherever they live or come from, have a common interest. He is a proud trade unionist.
With Mark as the Leader of Welsh Labour and as First Minister, Usdaw will have someone that understands the issues our members face and who will be prepared to take action on them.
Mark is an experienced politician with a track record of delivering results. He has served as both Cabinet Secretary for Finance and before that as Minister for Health and Social Services. This experience is another reason why we believe that he will make a good Leader.
Nick Ireland, Usdaw’s South Wales & Western Divisional Officer, says:
“Wales faces some challenging issues, not least because of the uncertainties of Brexit and eight years of Tory austerity. We know that Mark Drakeford will work with the trade unions to deliver for our members and improve Welsh workers lives.”
If you live in Wales, pay into Usdaw’s Political Fund, and were a member before 28 June 2018, then you should be receiving a ballot by email or post that will enable you to take part in this election.
