Usdaw is the trade union for Asda workers in Northern Ireland. IKEA to close all stores because of Coronavirus - Usdaw is supporting members through this difficult time 20 March 2020 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has been informed by IKEA that as a precautionary measure against the ongoing risk of COVID-19, the company has decided to temporarily close all stores to the public at 6pm today. Government's wage assistance welcome, Usdaw seeks assurances for short-hours contract workers 20 March 2020 Shopworkers’ trade union Usdaw has welcomed the Chancellor’s announcement to cover 80% of the wages of workers facing being laid off. The union is calling for the calculation to be based on average income, rather than contractual pay, and urges employers to make up the 20% shortfall. School Closures 20 March 2020 Many of our members will be concerned about school closures which are taking effect from Monday. SRC and Usdaw jointly call on the Scottish Government to support key workers in retail 20 March 2020 Shopwokers’ trade union Usdaw and the Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC) have jointly written to John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister of Scotland and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, calling for retail workers to be identified as key workers, so they will have access to childcare. Key worker list: Usdaw welcomes the inclusion of food and pharmaceutical supply workers and funeral workers 20 March 2020 Shopworkers trade union Usdaw has welcomed the publication of the key worker list and the inclusion of workers in grocery stores, the retail supply chain including food manufacturing, delivery drivers, those in the pharmaceutical industry and funeral workers as key workers. They will now be able access childcare provisions during the school closures from today. Usdaw welcomes the indication that workers in the retail supply chain will be included in the list of key workers and looks forward to confirmation today 19 March 2020 Shopworkers trade union Usdaw has called on the Government to identify workers in grocery stores, the retail supply chain, delivery drivers, those in the pharmaceutical industry and funeral workers as key workers.
