Debenhams workers’ long wait for justice is over - Usdaw welcomes the tribunal verdict and calls for reform of redundancy law 31 August 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw has welcomed an employment tribunal decision, which found that Debenhams failed in its duty to properly consult with the staff at risk of redundancy. 400 former staff are now set to receive around £860,000 between them after winning a legal battle against the retailer. CPAG reveals disturbing evidence about migration onto Universal Credit - Usdaw joins calls for reform 31 August 2023 Retail trade union Usdaw is encouraging members to claim the social security benefits that they are entitled and to be cautious when being migrated from tax credits to Universal Credit. Today the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has published research showing that more than a quarter of tax credit claimants have had their current benefits stopped and have not moved on to Universal Credit. BRC finds retail theft and abuse have increased in ten of UK’s largest cities - Usdaw joins calls for mayors and PPCs to improve shopworker safety 25 July 2023 Retail trade union shares the concerns of the trade association British Retail Consortium (BRC) after they revealed new research showing that retail theft increased by an average of 27% across ten of the largest cities in the UK.
