Selfridges acquisition: Usdaw seeks to meet the new owners to secure assurances for staff

Date: 24 December 2021 Retail trade union Usdaw is seeking to meet with the new owners of the luxury department store group Selfridges. The Weston family has today announced they have sold Selfridges to retailer Signa Holding and property company Central Group.
Dave Gill – Usdaw National Officer says: “Usdaw is the trade union for Selfridges’ staff and we welcome the initial indications from the new owners that they are looking to build on a successful business and ‘give all the stores a bright future’. We will be seeking to meet with them in the New Year to secure assurances for our members.

“The sale of a business is always a concerning time for the staff and our priorities are to ensure a smooth transition, secure jobs and work with the new owners to achieve their stated aim of creating ‘one of the world’s leading omni-channel luxury department store groups’. In the meantime we are providing our members with the support and advice they need.”
