Usdaw congratulates Carolyn Harris MP on being elected as the first Welsh Labour Deputy Leader

Date: 21 April 2018 Shopworkers’ trade union leader John Hannett has congratulated Carolyn Harris MP on her election as the first Deputy Leader of the Welsh Labour Party. The result was announced today at the Welsh Labour conference in Llandudno.
John Hannett – Usdaw General Secretary says: “Carolyn Harris is an active member of the Usdaw group of MPs and a hard working Parliamentary campaigner, so we are delighted that she has been elected the first Deputy Leader of Labour in Wales.

“Carolyn’s election ensures there are strong links between the party in Wales and the UK Parliament. Workers’ rights, pay and standards of living continue to be at risk under a Conservative Government that is taking us out of the EU. Carolyn, as a serving MP, provides that link and a strong voice for Wales in the House of Commons.”
