Today we remember Jo Cox and our thoughts are with her family

Date: 23 November 2016 Shopworkers trade union leader John Hannett remembers Jo Cox, the Batley and Spen MP tragically murdered in June, on the day that her killer is convicted.
John Hannett – Usdaw General Secretary says: “It is still difficult to come to terms with the loss of Jo Cox. When Jo was murdered on the streets of her constituency, her family was robbed of a wife and mother, the community lost a hard working elected representative and the political world and wider community lost one of their brightest lights.

“We can only look on in admiration at the response of Brendan, Jo’s husband, who is determined to continue the principles she held so dear and worked so hard to promote. The Jo Cox Foundation is helping with issues such as loneliness, Syrian refugees, autism, and encouraging women in politics. Brendan is right when he says Jo’s voice is strengthened, not silenced.”
