Ladbroke's call centre strike to go ahead20 August 2008The trade union, Usdaw, has announced that workers at Ladbrokes tele-betting call centre in Liverpool have voted in favour of industrial action, following a below-inflation pay offer. Usdaw members have voted to stage a series of four 24-hour strikes after the company declined the offer from Usdaw to negotiate an improvement on its 3% pay offer. The first 24-hour strike will take place on Saturday 23 August 2008. Area Organiser, Michelle Owens, said: “Industrial action is a last resort for our members and demonstrates their frustration. However, with food and energy bills going up all the time, our members are understandably disappointed at the company's refusal to negotiate an improved offer. “We will be keeping the door open for further negotiations. We hope that Ladbrokes will come forward with a meaningful, improved offer and work with Usdaw to avert disruption to the business by putting an offer on the table that is acceptable to everyone.” Notes to Editors:
