Supporting Parents and Carers campaign

Wakefield’s Deputy Mayor Councillor Darran Travis and Pontefract and Castleford MP Yvette Cooper will visit Three Lane Ends Primary School on Friday 21 October to meet school councillors.

The purpose of the visit to discuss with the school councillors, who represent the views of all the pupils within the school, exactly how retail union Usdaw’s innovative Supporting Parents and Carers campaign will benefit mums and dads in their workplaces.

The Deputy Mayor and Yvette Cooper will be looking for feedback from the school councillors to make sure the union’s campaign will help working parents achieve a proper work/life balance and they will also update the children on the proposed increases in paid maternity and paternity leave announced by the Government this week.

The meeting will start at 1.30pm on Friday 21 October at Three Lane Ends Primary School, Methley Road, Castleford.

Usdaw will have a photographer at this event and we can make those pictures available to you.

But if a reporter or staff photographer would like to attend please contact Usdaw Media Officer Paul Clarke on 0161 249 2469 or e-mail paul.clarke@usdaw.org.uk.
