State Pension Centenary
21 March 2008
Pension Centenary Campaign 2008 marks the centenary of the first ever old age pension.
As such, this year provides a unique opportunity to pay tribute to those who secured this tremendous advance in social policy, whilst stepping up the campaign to improve today's State pension.
Throughout the year, the Pension Centenary Campaign will call on the Government to raise the basic State pension above the official poverty level of £134 a week, for all men and women, and increase it annually in line with earnings.
