Trade union Usdaw opens new office in Aberdeen14 October 2003The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (Usdaw), the fifth largest trade union in the UK, opened a new area office near Aberdeen city centre yesterday. Seven Usdaw staff, including three Area Organisers, will be based at the new office in Queen's Lane North. The office boasts impressive facilities for training shop stewards and union reps. It will be the administrative hub for the union's work across North East Scotland and central Highlands. The new office replaces Usdaw's previous base in Holburn Street, Aberdeen. Usdaw Scottish Divisional Officer Frank Whitelaw said: "Usdaw is committed to providing excellent facilities for members and staff, and this office does that. It has good transport links and offers better opportunity to train workers from across a wide area of Scotland in union activity."
