Get into learning

Get into learning
Get into learning

Want to learn about computers but don’t know where to go? Like to develop new skills or brush up on old ones, but don’t have the confidence to start? Want to help the children with their homework, but don’t know how? Want to do a course but your shifts get in the way? Usdaw can help.

Get back into learning, it's easier than you think

Every year Usdaw helps over 2500 members back into learning! From brushing up on basic skills, to computer courses, even holiday Spanish, they just can't get enough!

Here's what some of our members say

"Everyone needs to start somewhere. That's what I kept saying to myself. Trouble is I've been thinking about it for far too long now, so thank goodness Lifelong Learning came along! My Union Learning Rep fixed me up with a computer course at my local college along with a number of other Usdaw members, and it was FREE! Then, when someone dropped out of the sign language course, I jumped straight in."
Jan, Reality

"I recently completed a computer course at work. It was advertised as part of Usdaw's Lifelong Learning campaign and my Union Learning Rep gave me lots of information about the course, so I felt a bit more confident. When I finished I was at a loose end so I enrolled on a course for two evenings a week at the local college. I am so pleased to have been given the opportunity to get back into learning through Usdaw."
Debbie, Reality

"I suffer from dyslexia, which was not recognised at school so I always had a bit of trouble reading and writing. When Lifelong Learning came to our workplace, I signed up for a basic skills course. Since then my reading has improved and I have more confidence in my writing. I can say that I regained a lot of confidence in my own abilities and myself. It was my Union Learning Rep who really helped me to get into learning, so when the chance came up I became one. I would advise anyone who is interested in learning to see their Union Learning Rep."
Vince, Tesco

How do I get started?

Find out who is your Usdaw Learning Rep. Your rep will be able to tell you about courses running in or near your workplace. They will also be able to tell you about local colleges and other places to learn. Your rep is guaranteed to:
  • Keep your discussions private and treat any concerns in confidence, especially if you are worried about the employer finding out.
  • Help find the right course for you.
  • Help you deal with colleges and any paperwork.
  • Help make learning affordable for you.

Get back into learning, it's easier than you think!
