The Usdaw Home Study – Apply today

The Usdaw Home Study is about helping members and activists find out more about Usdaw.

If you are a relatively new or inexperienced member or activist, you may not know how to begin to get involved in Usdaw. A first step could be to learn a bit more about how the Union works and what it does.

The Usdaw Home Study has been designed especially to help you do just that - it can be done at your own leisure in the comfort of your own home.

The Home Study units include:

Unit one - Unity is Strength
Unit two - Democracy in Usdaw
Unit three - Collective Bargaining
Unit four - Understanding Pensions (Part One)
Unit four - Understanding Pensions (Part Two)

A recognised award

The Usdaw Home Study is run in partnership with Wirral Metropolitan College. When you complete a unit you will not only get a certificate signed by the union's General Secretary and President. You will also receive credits at either level 1 or level 2 from the Open College Network.

So the more you learn about Usdaw, the more your knowledge will be recognised with Open College credits.

Alternatively, you can download The Usdaw Home Study leaflet and application form (leaflet 130) from the resource library:

You will then be sent a colourful resource book full of information. You will also receive a question book. To complete the Home Study, just fill in the question book, and return it to Usdaw. Your answers are checked, and then the question book is returned to you.
