Learning centre breakthrough at Colour Care15 January 2002A brand new state-of-the-art Learning Centre opened its doors for the first time at Colour Care Laboratory in Neath, Swansea, last year.
The centre is fully equipped with the latest computer systems with on-site training at all levels being provided by Swansea College. Minister for Europe Peter Hain MP, officially opened the centre in his own constituency. He said: "I'm delighted to see a Learning Centre here," he said, "particularly as I have been a strong advocate of Lifelong Learning for years." Training is financed by the Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF). Area Organiser Christine Richardson said: "We've had tremendous support from everyone at Colour Care, the Wales TUC and Swansea College. This is what partnership is all about, working hand in hand for the benefit of the members." Christine Rogers, a driver for Colour Care said: "I've never touched a computer before. I'm really looking forward to my course. I would never have gone to night school on my own, it's great to have the opportunity at work." General Manager Lorraine Phillips said: "It's great having learning facilities on site. Enhancing your skills is not only good for the individual but also for the company." Customer Care Manager, Betty Hopkin already has some computer skills, she said: "Myself and my colleagues in the department are looking forward to surfing the information super highway!"
