A brand new Learning Centre in Manchester has helped to open up a whole new world for members at McVities Biscuits. Many staff have already taken advantage of the facilities of the on-site centre and were recently presented with certificates for completing their basic computer training courses. Shop steward Terry Morley said: "The new facilities, which are fully equipped with computers, are very impressive. "I helped to set up the first computer course with our Training Manager Gail Johnson and Tutor Graham Cooper. It proved very successful and most people can't wait to enrol on the next one." Convenor Lloyd Pestel said: "Being able to learn at work is ideal. You can complete the courses in your own time and there's always help on hand if you need it. "I enrolled on a course at a local college, but didn't complete it, because I was just left to my own devices and basically couldn't keep pace. "Most people, myself included, are a little apprehensive about getting back into learning, but this kind of set up helps give you the confidence and the start you need."
